All about sensitive skin care
‘Sensitive skin care’ is governed by a few basic rules. However, even before we delve into the rules for sensitive skin care, it’s important to understand what a sensitive skin is. Sensitive skin is one which is unable to tolerate partition unfavourable conditions ( environmental / other ), and which easily gets irritated on contact with foreign materials ( including skin care products ). For this reason, some products are especially labelled as sensitive skin care products. The nicety of sensitivity can however vary from individual to person ( and depending on that, the sensitive skin care procedures vary highly ).
Generally, all skin types remark negatively to detergents and altered chemical based products. However, the desolate starts recurrently beyond a defined threshold ( or tolerance level ). This hospitality level is very low for sensitive skin types, unequaled to skin receipt damaged very easily and quickly. Sensitive skin care products either slight the implied irritants or keep them at very dispirited concentrations.
Here are a few tips for sensitive skin care:
* Use sensitive skin care products only ( i. e. the products that are marked for sensitive skin care apart ). And, check the instructions / notes on the product to see if there are native restrictions / warnings associated with the product ).
* Even within the range of sensitive skin care products, flock the one that has minimum preservatives, colourings and other additives
* Do not utility toners.
Think about what you've read so far. Does it reinforce what you already know about ? Or was there something completely new? What about the remaining paragraphs?
Most of them are alcohol based and are not recommended for sensitive skin.
* Dull jelly gloves when evidence laundry or at odds chemical based cleaning. If you are allergic to rubber, you can wear cotton gloves below the rubber ones.
* Another important tip for ‘sensitive skin care’ is to overlook excessive exposure to sun. Handle sunscreen lotion before getting out in the sun.
* Avoiding exposition to dust and distant pollutants is also important for sensitive skin care. So, eclipse yourself adequately before flurry over.
* Use hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic moisturizer as a sensitive skin care product ( if there is none specifically labelled as a sensitive skin care product )
* Use soap - gratuitous and alcohol free cleansers. Cleanse your face whenever you rake-off from spending time exterior doors.
* Effect not scrub or exfoliate too hard. It can cause reddishness and trim inflammation.
* Produce not leave the makeup on for too longish. Use hypoallergenic makeup - removers.
So, sensitive skin care is simple diverse from the normal skin care. Sensitive skin care is higher about because acute with your skin ( both in terms of sensitive skin care products and protection against environments atrocities on skin ).
I hope that reading the above information was both enjoyable and educational for you. Your learning process should be ongoing--the more you understand about any subject, the more you will be able to share with others.

Taking Care Of Children's Health
The Journal of Children's Health is a quarterly peer-reviewed publication devoted to sharing original work regarding the unique risks to children from chemical, microbial, radiological, physical and social hazards in their environment. It is intentionally broad in scope, and presents original scientific research as well as policy and regulatory implications. "Children's health issues are fundamental to our society.
Care
Every mother-to-be and baby in the United States must have the health care they need, and the health insurance to provide for that health care. It's called the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and it provides federal money -- matched by the states -- so children can receive health care even when their parents can't afford it.
These numbers are way too high and could be lower if all expectant mothers, regardless of income, had access to high-quality health care during pregnancy and after childbirth.
Child
children are at risk of chronic illnesses. Children are most vulnerable to dioxins and other toxic chemicals. Children breathe more air, eat more food and drink morewater per pound of body weight than adults.
Children are physiologically different from adults and face different health risks.
Children's health is an important indicator of health in later life. Children's health care may not be as expensive as other priorities facing legislatures, but there is great opportunity to protect children through state action. Children whose sleep is disturbed by noise have 120% more chance of suffering from migraine than non-exposed children, and more than 90% more chance of suffering from respiratory disorders.
Environmental
Environmental and children's health advocates point to downward trends in several indicators of children's health to make the case that children are endangered by environmental contaminants.
National
National Cancer Institute (NCI) data for the periods from 1973-74 to 1994-95 show a rise in the annual incidence of all cancers in the 0 to 14 age group from 12.
The National Safe Kids Campaign reports that accidents cause approximately 246,000 hospitalizations, 8,700,000 emergency room visits, and 11,000,000 visits to physicians every year. According to the National Safe Kids Campaign, deaths due to accidents for the 14 and under age group declined 18 percent from 1987 to 1995, from 8,069 to 6,611 per year.
Disease
Among other key findings:
49 percent of parents of children ages 14 to 17 say that media have a "somewhat negative" or "very negative" effect on their child;
About 6 percent of parents report having a child with a physical, behavioral or mental condition, such as asthma or heart disease, that limits his or her participation in normal childhood activities, and those parents say their children fare worse on a range of issues;
16 percent of parents with children ages 3 to 5 say that the child worries "somewhat" or "very much" about family conflict, and that figure rises to 33 percent for preteens (ages 9 to 13) and 31 percent for teens;
One in 10 parents of a preteen is "very concerned" that his or her child may be depressed, and another 12 percent of preteens' parents are "somewhat concerned";
59 percent of Latino parents report that their child's physical health is "excellent," compared to 67 percent of Asian parents and 79 percent of Caucasians parents;
The percentage of parents reporting that their child has a "very positive" attitude toward school declines from 72 percent for parents of 6-to-8-year-olds to 50 percent for parents of children ages 14-17;
28 percent of parents say they do not spend enough time together as a family; 6 percent say they spend too much;
15 percent of African American parent respondents say they are "very concerned" about their child's weight, more than any other racial/ethnic group.
The good news is that new technologies and drug treatments are allowing children with once fatal diseases such as cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, spina bifida and congenital heart defects to survive into adulthood. "We know that providing access to care for every child can help to prevent obesity, heart disease and diabetes.
Friday, May 04, 2007Children's health is a public responsibility. One of the most severe threats to children's health is lead poisoning; in old dwellings, lead is found in paint or solder for pipes. "We must act to assure that our children's health is not at risk," said AAP President Carol Berkowitz, MD, FAAP.
Your children's health is our main concern.

Heart Rate Monitor for the Most Avid Health and Fitness Buffs
Heart rate monitors come in all shapes and sizes. They are the perfect workout companion, since heart rate monitors will give you an idea of the intensity of exercise that you have been doing by monitoring the number of heartbeats per minute. The general rule of thumb is that the higher your heart rate, the faster and harder you workout. Thus, you will receive maximum results as you exercise with the use of a heart rate monitor. However, you need to be able to interpret and use the results given out by a heart rate monitor so that you would know about the benefits of having one. Some heart rate monitors measure, aside from the heart rate – the maximum and minimum heart zone or level, as well as the number of calories that you have burned during a particularly strenuous workout session.Tuesday, May 01, 2007
How Much Are You Paying for Stress in Your Life?
The root cause of most body issues is a mental or physical behavior that is not serving you. Often my clients come to me with digestion, insomnia, or out of control eating issues and are looking for a quick food fix. I am happy to help them change their diet for the better. But in order to really make these food changes stick, first we determine the root lifestyle causes that are resulting in the body’s issues. Is the insomnia caused by late night worrying about a stressful job? Could the digestion issues be triggered every time a certain topic of conversation is brought up?
This principle is best explained with the theory of primary and secondary food that I learned at my nutrition school. Primary foods are those areas of your life that feed you at the heart and soul level – your relationships, career, spirituality, exercise, and family. Secondary foods are the actual foods that you put into your mouth. Primary and secondary foods are intricately connected and are equally important.
When your primary food is not going well, your body can begin to break down and it becomes difficult to make healthy secondary food choices. For example, if you dislike your job, you may start to get chronic headaches everyday at 10 AM – which could lead you to drink three cups of coffee to avoid the pain and stay awake.
While this is all very easy to explain, it can actually be very difficult at times to determine what the true primary food issues are that are causing insomnia or headaches or other body reactions. And it can be even harder to determine solutions that ease the stress. We can’t all quit our jobs immediately or escape on vacations. But sometimes a small lifestyle change can help offset some of the stress that appears in your body as pain, sleeplessness, or feeling out of control. Let me give you a few examples.
This morning I was awakened by a client who was calling me with major stomach distress. She said “Monica, I’m most upset because last week, I was out of town taking care of my mom and the stomach issues went away. Now they are back with a vengeance and I think I am eating most of the same foods.” After we determined that she was for sure eating the same foods, I asked her about stress. She replied “Oh yes, I am taking the GRE exam next week and I haven’t taken a test like that in over ten years. I couldn’t really think about it last week because I was so busy taking care of my mom. But now I am totally focused on it. But I don’t really feel that much stress.” I suggested that she take a fifteen minute break and do some deep breathing or meditation and see if that helped her stomach at all. I told her how in my practice most women report having stomach issues flare up after stress inducing activities like moving to New York or post a relationship break up. Later I received an e-mail that her stomach was feeling much better and she was glad for the reminder to slow down every now and then.
Another client reported that she was having trouble concentrating at work because she repeatedly woke up during the night and was having nightmares. When I asked her about it she said “I just have so much going in my life right now. I’m looking for a new job, moving and dealing with some family issues. But my nightmares aren’t about any of those things. I wake up with a general feeling of panic and anxiety at 3 AM and then I just toss and turn for the rest of the night, trying to go back to sleep.” I suggested that she buy a journal and keep it by her bed. When she woke up at 3 AM, she could grab the journal and just start writing. She replied that she had actually kept a journal for years before she got married but had stopped writing after her marriage and birth of her daughter because she was afraid that someone might find what she had written. So I told her to rip up the pages after she wrote them. The first night she tried it, she wrote for pages and pages – two hours and dozens of pages later she went back to sleep. She is continuing to write at night and I think she will continue for a little while – but the good news is that is finally sleeping soundly during the hours that she does find rest.
In another case, I was doing an initial consultation with a female in her thirties. She was telling me about how she felt like she couldn’t control her eating habits. I asked her to give me an example. She said “Like this morning. I got to work and scarfed down a piece of French toast and a candy bar before 9 AM. I am such a mess.” I paused for a moment and asked her what had happened this morning before she came to work. She replied “I got into a fight with my husband and was late dropping my son off at school.” I suggested that it wasn’t that she was out of control with her eating, but that certain emotions triggered her unhealthy eating spells. She is now becoming more and more aware of her emotions and learning to recognize the danger periods before they result in an out of control food binge.
I am not implying that these cases are so simple that deep breathing or journal writing are the deepest and only solutions, but they are helpful lifestyle fixes that can provide some immediate relief while my clients are working on the deeper issues or bigger life changes.
The next time you are struggling with unexplained sleepless nights, headaches, stomachaches or random aches and pains, look beneath the surface and see what primary food issues may be causing your body to react before you reach for the aspirin or antacid. Then determine if there is a way that you could relieve the stress and anxiety that you are feeling by making a major or minor lifestyle or food change. And if you need a hand, be sure to give Ideal Balance a call.

4 Ways to Feel Better Without Seeing a Doctor
Don’t get the wrong idea I am not saying we don’t need doctors, sometimes you just have to see a doctor for immediate care. It’s one of the most admirable professions in the world and they have worked hard to get to where they are. However one of the most common misconceptions ever is, “My doctor takes care of my body.” Your doctor will guide you and give you advice and prescribe appropriate medications, when you’re sick. But I prefer to treat my health with preventive care rather than to wait until I get sick and then react to my body’s symptoms with a prescription or OTC drug. The truth is your health is your responsibility! Not your doctor’s, not your spouse’s, and certainly not the hot dog vendor.Besides, when you have to see the doctor, it takes your time, possibly one of your few vacation days you get per year. It takes your money and it’s just not on most people’s list as to how they want to spend an afternoon. Here are a few suggestions that you can start doing today that won’t take a penny out of your pocket and you’ll reap big results in a short time.
1) Get More ExerciseHave you ever sat around the house all day and never felt good? Now get out and do something active. You don’t have to run for miles at a time to feel better. Take a 20 minute walk around your neighborhood with your spouse. Play basketball with the kids. On top of the known physical benefits exercise is a proven mood booster.
2) Think before you eat
I’m not a dietician but I do understand how you feel is directly related as to what and how much you consume. My personal rule of thumb: Before you eat think about how you will feel an hour later I love fried chicken, but if I eat it at lunch I know it may satisfy my hunger for the moment, but it does nothing to nourish my body and mind of vital nutrients. So, shortly thereafter I feel tired, slow and worse yet, hungry. So there you have it you have heard it for years. Look before you leap.
3) Slow down
Did you know it takes 20 minutes for your stomach to send the signal to your brain that it is full? That’s right, so if you are still sitting at the dinner table enjoying your food and you start to feel full; it is actually too late you have officially overeaten. If you are dining with a family member or a friend enjoy the conversation and take your time. If you are alone put your fork down between bites and chew your food thoroughly. Savor it and when your hunger is satisfied just stop eating. You will actually enjoy it more. You will be amazed at how little food you actually need.
4) Get More Sleep
Think about when you get 8 good hours of sleep. You feel better when you wake up. You don’t hit the snooze button 4 times to get the extra few minutes. (Which isn’t going to do you any good). Everything seems to just be easier during the day from walking to your decision making at work. Your mood improves, you have more patience (an important trait for all you parents out there), among countless other positives. Here are some frightening statistics: 70% of adults’ average less than 6 hours of sleep per night. If you miss 1 hour sleep for a week straight it has the same effect as staying awake 24 hours straight once a week.
Sounds too simple to work? Try it. It shouldn’t be rocket science to learn how to feel good. These are steps that anyone can start doing immediately to feel better today.

Pay Attention To Your Health Care Provider's Advice For Better Health
Your health care provider has spent a number of years dedicated to learning all they can about human health from diagnosing illnesses to determining the best course of action to either cancel out the ailment or at least make you comfortable living with the illness.
It is always important to have a good relationship with your health care provider. It may also help to get to know the people who work in the office as well, as developing a great relationship with those in charge of your health care is always a good idea. Making sure they know your personal condition can help your health care provider better understand your medical situation.
If you make a decision that you want to try alternative medications, such as herbal or all natural ingredients, you should always check with your health care provider about how they could work together with your current medications and what effect, if any, that they could have on your medications stability.
Furthermore, if you end up hospitalized your health care provider may not be the doctor keeping up with your progress in the hospital, rather they may turn that aspect of your health care to specialists involved in additional care involving the issues that have placed you in the hospital. Pay attention to your health care provider's advice, it could save your life.

22 Ways To A Good Night's Sleep
How many of you consider the importance of sleep in relation to fat-loss, injury prevention and recovery, lack of focus, and overall health and vitality?
According to a study published in the Lancet Medical Journal (1) chronic sleep deprivation may speed the onset or increase the severity of age-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and memory loss.
Just one week of sleep deprivation altered subject’s hormone levels and their capacity to metabolize carbohydrates.
During sleep deprivation the researchers found that the men's blood sugar levels took 40% longer to drop following a high-carbohydrate meal, compared with the control group (well rested group).
Their ability to secrete and respond to the hormone insulin (which helps regulate blood sugar) dropped by 30%.
Additionally, the sleep-deprived men had higher night-time concentrations of the hormone cortisol, (hormone released in response to stress), and lower levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone.
These raised cortisol levels mimic levels that are often seen in older people, and may be involved in age-related insulin resistance and memory loss.
So with that in mind here are some helpful tips to getting a good night’s sleep:
1. Get to sleep by 10.00 pm if possible – as most of the physical repair in your body takes place between 10 pm and 2 am. For example the gallbladder dumps toxins during this period. If you are awake then your liver is being overworked and perhaps sending toxins into your bloodstream.
2. Establish a regular, relaxing bedtime routine such as soaking in a hot bath and then reading a book or listening to soothing music. Some studies suggest that soaking in hot water before retiring to bed can ease the transition into deeper sleep, but it should be done early enough that you are no longer sweating or over-heated.
3. Create a sleep-conducive environment that is dark, quiet, comfortable, cool, and without interruptions. Design your sleep environment to establish the conditions you need for sleep. Also make your bedroom reflective of the value you place on sleep. If there is even the tiniest bit of light in the room it can disrupt your circadian rhythm and your pineal gland's production of melatonin and serotonin (growth and immune boasting hormones).
4. Avoid arousing activities before bedtime like working, paying bills, engaging in competitive games or family problem-solving.
5. Avoid exposure to bright light before bedtime because it signals the neurons that help control the sleep-wake cycle that it is time to awaken, not to sleep.
6. Keep the light off when you go to the bathroom at night. As soon as you turn on that light you will immediately cease all production of the important sleep aid melatonin.
7. Eating a high-protein snack several hours before bed works for many (but not all as it depends on metabolic type). This can provide the L-tryptophan needed to produce melatonin and serotonin. Also eat a small piece of fruit. This can help the L-tryptophan cross the blood-brain barrier.
8. Avoid foods that you may be sensitive to. This is particularly true for dairy and wheat products, as they may have effect on sleep, such as causing apnea, excess congestion, gastrointestinal upset, and gas, among others. Additionally grains will raise blood sugar and inhibit sleep. Later, when blood sugar drops too low (hypoglycemia), you might wake up and not be able to fall back asleep.
9. Exercise regularly. It is best to complete your workout at least a few hours before bedtime. In general, exercising regularly makes it easier to fall asleep and contributes to sounder sleep. However, exercising sporadically or right before going to bed will make falling asleep more difficult. In addition to making us more alert, our body temperature rises during exercise, and takes as much as 6 hours to begin to drop. A cooler body temperature is associated with sleep onset.
10. Wear socks to bed. Due to the fact that they have the poorest circulation, the feet often feel cold before the rest of the body does. A study has shown that this reduces night waking.
11. Remove the clock from view. It will only add to your worry when constantly staring at it... 2 am...3 am... 4:30 am...
12. Use your bedroom only for sleep and sex to strengthen the association between bed and sleep. It is best to take work materials, computers and televisions out of the sleeping environment.
13. Using dimmer switches in living rooms and bathrooms before bed can be helpful.
14. Journaling. If you often lay in bed with your mind racing, it might be helpful keep a journal and write down your thoughts before bed.
15. Avoid caffeine (e.g. coffee, tea, soft drinks, chocolate) close to bedtime. It can keep you awake as caffeine is a stimulant, which means it can produce an alerting effect. Caffeine products remain in the body on average from 3 to 5 hours, but they can affect some people up to 12 hours later. Even if you do not think caffeine affects you, it may be disrupting and changing the quality of your sleep.
16. Avoid nicotine (e.g. cigarettes, tobacco products). When smokers go to sleep, they experience withdrawal symptoms from nicotine, which causes sleep problems.
17. Avoid alcohol close to bedtime. Although many people think of alcohol as a sedative, it actually disrupts sleep, causing nighttime awakenings. Alcohol will also keep you from falling into the deeper stages of sleep, where the body does most of its healing.
18. Avoid using loud alarm clocks. It is very stressful on the body to be awoken suddenly. If you are regularly getting enough sleep, they should be unnecessary.
19. Avoid drinking any fluids within 2 hours of going to bed. This will reduce the likelihood of needing to get up and go to the bathroom or at least minimize the frequency.
20. Sleep on a comfortable mattress and pillows. Make sure your mattress is supportive and have comfortable pillows. Make the room attractive and inviting for sleep but also free of allergens that might affect you and objects that might cause you to slip or fall if you have to get up during the night.
21. Listen to white noise or relaxation CDs. Some people find nature sounds like rainfall or ocean waves, or white noise soothing for sleep.
22. Herbs including chamomile and valerian are regarded as natural relaxants.
Happy Sleeping! :-)

The Benefits of Organic Milk or is it just plain Hype?
The government, producers, suppliers and retailers then began the shift towards going organic and the result of this activity was a surge in the number of farmers converting to organic production. The supply of organic milk increased rapidly in response to market demand and financial support to convert to organic farming methods that do not use artificial pesticides (insecticides, fungicides or herbicides) on pastures where cows graze. Organic cows are not fed GM cattle feed. This means that there is no possibility of GM or solvent residues being found in organic milk. It has been estimated that in the UK and the USA, our bodies contain traces of at minimum 300 potentially harmful chemicals absorbed from our food. Eating organically grown food and drinking organic milk is an easy way for people to avoid these chemicals. The popular press is going cow-wild over research that supposedly proves organic milk is healthier than conventional milk. Lets look into this a bit deeper….
Organic milk has all the nutritional goodness of non-organic milk but due to the cows more natural diet, it also has some additional health benefits such as higher levels of vitamin A, E and antioxidants.
The main issue that the organic milk industry is advertising is the high content of omega-3 fatty acids, found abundantly in oily fish (such as salmon, herring and cod) and walnut and fish oil. Omega-3s have been thought to protect against cancer and heart disease. This high content is great news as most people in the UK are deficient in Omega 3 fatty acids, which are also essential for maintaining supple and flexible joints, healthy growth and strong bones and teeth.
But are these benefits just empty nutritional superiority claims? Many commentators argue that the amount of Omega 3 is that small that people should eat fish at least once a month instead, and that buying organic milk for this purpose is nonsense.
The British Food Standards Agency says it will review the matter but has yet to be convinced that organic milk is any more nutritious than non organic milk. The lack of conclusive scientific research on the nutritional benefits of organic milk could lead to negativity in the overall organic market.
My thoughts are this….you pay an organic price premium but you could be getting extra Vitamins, Omega 3, non-GM contaminated milk plus supporting your green lifestyle and a traditional way of farming. On that
, I for one am prepared to pay extra and will continue to drink organic milk.

6 Tips for Combating Dust Allergies
The most common treatment for allergies is to simply avoid whatever you're allergic to. While you can stay inside during pollen season, or not eat foods with peanuts, you can't really avoid dust. It's everywhere, and not just where you can see it. You can dust surfaces all your want, there's still millions of dust mites lurking all over your home. The key to staying healthy is to know how to get rid of them. Here are some tips to help you out:
* Get rid of carpet. Hardwood floors may be expensive, but they're a whole lot better for your health. Carpets are a great place for dust mites to hide out and vacuuming does little to rid you of the problem. If you can't get rid of carpet, use a hepa filtered vacuum and a hot water carpet cleaner as often as you can. Another alternative is to have hard flooring with rugs on top. Rugs can easily be washed or steam cleaned to get rid of dust.
* Protect your mattress. Just like your carpet, mattresses are a great place for dust mites to hide. But unlike your mattress, you probably don't spend a third of your life lying on your carpet. Since you probably can't afford to replace your mattress all the time, find specialized allergy covers for your mattress. They also make covers for your pillows too.
* Clean your bedding. Your mattress and pillows aren't the only place in your bed dust mites like to hang out. They can build up in your sheets, blankets and comforters. That's why it's important to wash all your bedding in hot water at least once every two weeks. You should also consider getting a comforter made from a synthetic material rather than down or other natural fibers.
* Filter your air. Most people know you're supposed to change you home's air filters every three months, but that doesn't mean most people do. Stay on top of changing the air filter. Plus, they make special filters that help keep dust and other allergens out of the air you breathe. They cost more, but they're well worth it if you have allergies.
* Go Minimalist. While those little knick knacks all over your house may look nice, they can collect dust like none other. Cut down on the number of items you have sitting out and try to use decorations that are easy to dust or clean.
* Don't just move the dust. Traditional dusters and cloths just push dust off your items. Dust or clean with something that actually picks up the dust (static cleaners work best) and keeps it on the duster. This way you know you're getting rid of it not just moving it somewhere else.
Sure, some of these tips require a lot of work and possibly a bit of money, but the improvement you see in your health will be well worth the effort.

Vitamins And Minerals Are Health Magnets For Our Body's Circulatory System
Our body’s circulatory system is made up of the heart, arteries, veins and capillaries. This circulatory system transports oxygen, nutrients, water and blood throughout our bodies as well as assists in the removal of waste products. Obviously keeping this system in tip top shape is essential to its efficiency and to our health.
One of the things we can do to help keep our circulatory system healthy is to make sure that we are properly nourishing it with healthy diet filled with vitamins and minerals.
Vitamin C is responsible for strengthening the walls of the blood vessels throughout the body. This has to do with its role in the production of collagen, which is an essential connective tissue. Copper is a mineral that is necessary for the process of making the body’s connective tissue. Biotin is critical to the health of the circulatory system, as well as to the circulatory system’s performance, as it has a function in a number of essential enzyme processes.
Vitamin E helps to promote the healthy functioning of the circulatory system in a couple of ways. It helps to dilate the veins and it has a role in the controlling of blood clotting. Another important aspect of Vitamin E is its antioxidant properties, something that it shares with Vitamin C. These vitamins, with the help of other antioxidants, serve in the essential capacity of bringing free radicals, which if left unchecked can damage body tissue, under control.
Potassium, long known as being beneficial to the heart also serves other parts of the circulatory system. One important function of potassium is to control blood pressure and fluid stability in the circulatory system. Sodium shares in these important functions of maintaining the blood’s balance and pressure. We hear so much about the negatives of sodium that it’s easy to forget that sodium is, in reality, a mineral that is essential to the body’s functioning, particularly in the circulatory system. The key to sodium is moderation, a little is necessary but too much could be dangerous.
It’s apparent that the circulatory system is essential to a healthy body. It makes sense to support its functions with a diet that meets the recommended daily levels of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Because the proper balance of nutrients is so vital to the functioning of our bodies and its supporting systems, choose your nutritional supplements carefully. Choosing top quality ingredients will insure that you are doing your body good and not spending money unwisely. Make your circulatory system happy, feed it!

You Are No Good To Anyone Dead - Health Tips For The IT Professional
When was the last time you took a good hard long look at your overall health? Was it days, weeks, months or even years ago? Do you think that you are an iron man and can persevere through anything? I was once in that state of mind, nothing could knock me down, maybe just pushed back a bit which allowed me to recover well. Not anymore!
A lot of things have changed since those days. Those days weren’t all that long ago. Today my overall health is one of the most important strategies in my personal business plan and a key in my life plan. I am no good to anyone dead. To my family, business, friends or anyone that cares about me.
The wakeup call occurred one day when I was pushing close to the three hundred pound mark and my knees were seriously hurting due the strain of the extra weight I was carrying around. Some days my knees would lock up tight to the point where I couldn’t even get up because of the amount of pain. I was tired all the time, and I was no good to anyone, I lost the drive and desire because I was frustrated with myself and that I chose to gain all this weight. No one force feed the hot dogs at the hot dog stand to me as I went between clients or the extra plate at the buffet. I chose that lifestyle.
Since then I have dropped close to fifty pounds and starting to feel a lot better, not as tired, I have more energy and I do not need to sleep nearly as long to feel totally rested. This a great place to be. How did I get there?
No miracle diets, no special potions, simple eating the right feeds with a combination of a good exercise program. That is it, pretty straightforward. Instead of taking that quick hot dog on a way to a client’s office, I plan daily to eat healthy, have a good lunch in the middle of the day, something that will contribute to my overall well being and give me long lasting energy for the entire afternoon. Another tip - cut out the junk food snacks. Bring snacks in the office or carry along with you that are healthy. I am not a healthcare professional; I recommend that you consult with someone that specializes in diet to understand what is best for you.
One additional tip that I can share with you on my experiences is that I have cut out drinking soft drinks and other beverages along the same lines. During the day, I drink nothing but water and try to cut down on the amount of coffee that I drink. I find that drinking water during the day keeps my mental retention high and focused on my tasks at hand. I can’t say what water is better than others, I just have the regular water in our water cooler, and it seems to be working for me.
Your health as an IT consultant or business owner is critical to your success, without you running your business, will your business survive? How would poor health affect your family life? It is even more critical when you are a sole entrepreneur, when you are not able to function, create your work, sell your solutions – where is the money coming in from? Having a healthy lifestyle combined with the recommended amount of exercise will aid in you having that competitive advantage in the marketplace. Give you the energy to shine over perhaps your competition that can’t keep pace with you. There are a lot of reasons to choose a healthy standard of living, what is yours?

Understand the Bird Flu Symptoms to Fight Against Bird Flu
One of the latest fears around the World is the outbreak of bird flu. Bird flu has been spreading around countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, and China. Now, this virus is rapidly spreading to more countries such as Japan, Korea, and recently, to European countries. It is important for individuals to be aware of this issue and understand the bird flu symptoms in order for one to take measures immediately and prevent the virus from spreading further. The recorded bird flu symptoms among humans include fever, cough, sore throat, muscle pains and conjunctivitis. Other kinds of complications for people who contracted these illnesses include eye infections and acute respiratory distress. The most fearsome effect of the bird flu on humans are breathing disorders, such as pneumonia, and other severely life threatening complications that may eventually lead to death.
Since this condition is very dangerous, bird flu preparation is the key needed to prevent this life threatening disease from becoming a full-blown flu pandemic. People around the world need to be equipped with the basic awareness of the disease, such as understanding bird flu symptoms and how to prevent it, and should communicate and cooperate in the worldwide pursuit of ending the chain of bird flu victims.
What are the necessary things to do to prevent bird flu infection? How would you know if the person around you is suffering from this rare disease? What symptoms are they showing when one is affected by this condition? What should you do if you suspect a family member has avian flu? These are just among the many questions that you should know of the answer.
Prevention is definitely the most important thing in this battle. There might unfortunately be a very slim chance for cure when you are already infected by the disease. That is why prevention is so important.
The first preventive step in fighting off avian flu is for a person to wear a bird flu mask, especially if he or she will be exposed to fowl for longer than usual, such as those people who are working in a veterinary clinic, pet shops or poultry farms, or one who has already showed some bird flu symptoms. Some bird flu masks are equipped with nano-particles that are proven to be highly effective in eliminating viruses and bacteria. These masks (which are usually disposable) effectively isolate and destroy bacteria and viruses, thus preventing their unwelcome entrance to the human body.
Bird flu infestation has been a big threat to animals and humans as well. We have to give our sustained effort to fight off this influenza, especially since it has been reported to be evolving fast into becoming a highly contagious disease. Be sure to take action immediately, either by called for medical help or isolation till medical help arrives, when you notice bird flu symptoms. In doing so, you can help to prevent this deadly virus from spreading further.

General Headache Facts
Headaches are described as a pain in the head, usually located above the eyes or ears, in the back of the head (an occipital headache), or in the area of the upper vertebrae. Primary headaches, not related to or caused by diseases, are known as migraine headaches, cluster headaches and tension headaches. Secondary headaches are linked to a correlated minor, serious or life-threatening disease.Tension headaches are the most universal type of primary headache and are experienced by 90% of the adult population. Women are typically afflicted with tension headaches more often than men. People suffering from a tension headache often experience pressure or pain in the back of the head and upper neck, tightness around the head and intense pain above the eyebrows. This type of headache is generally not debilitating and affects both sides of the head or bilaterally. Tension headaches are headaches that are experienced intermittently by most people although some have daily or frequent occurrences of this type.
Migraine headaches affect some 28 million women, men and children in the United States (approximately 12% of the population). Migraines headaches are chronic and the affected person usually experiences intense pain throbbing or pounding in the area of the temple, pain in the forehead, around the eyes or the back of the head. Most of the time, this pain is unilateral and, typically, switch sides after each attack. If a person experiences extreme pain with migraine-like symptoms that always occurs on the same side of the head, this could be indicative of a secondary headache caused by something else, a brain tumor, for example. Migraines can be activated by performing a daily task like walking up a set of stairs. Migraines are typically accompanied by symptoms such as facial pallor, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, cold hands or feet and sensitivity to light and sound. A migraine attack typically lasts between 4 and 72 hours, with the afflicted person preferring to rest in a quiet, dark room.
Another type of primary headache is the cluster headache. A cluster headache is rare, only affecting 0.1% of the population. Men between the ages of 28-30 years primarily experience these headaches. Cluster headaches occur in groups often lasting weeks or months and separated by months or years of pain-free periods. When a series of cluster headaches affects an individual, the pain he experiences will typically appear once or twice daily for 30 minutes to one and a half hours. These attacks manifest around the same time each day, sometimes waking the sufferer from a deep sleep. The pain of a cluster headache is a unilateral, excruciating pain often described as a hot poker in one eye. The patient will often experience restlessness, banging his head against a wall or compelled to violent or dangerous actions.
Secondary headaches, the second type of general headache, are caused by an associated disease that is serious or life threatening such as strokes, meningitis, subarachnoid hemorrhages or brain tumors. Withdrawal from caffeine or discontinuation of painkillers is a less serious cause of secondary headaches.

Help For The Alcoholic
Question: If an alcoholic is unwilling to get help, what can you do about it?Alcoholics don't respond very well to advice, suggestions, or threats. One would imagine that under these circumstances an alcoholic is doomed to oblivion. You must realize the alcoholic is desperate to get more and more alcohol, and he or she may lie, cheat and steal in order to do so.
Very simply, an alcoholic is a person whose life is controlled by alcohol. They are sick.
Question: If the alcoholic is sick why doesn't he or she just go to the hospital?
Because in the early stages of alcoholism, the alcoholic does not appear sick, in pain, or visibly abnormal. Alcoholics do not comprehend that they are about to become a very sick person, and neither do the people around them.
By the time an alcoholic is in the late stage, he or she is often irrational, deluded, and unable to understand what has happened. The alcoholic is simply not aware of what is going on in his or her body and is in a complete state of denial.
Being an alcoholic is not a curse. The alcoholic is a sick person and should be treated as one. Alcoholics are born with a hereditary, genetic predisposition to addiction having to do with brain chemistry. Alcoholics need to ingest alcohol before the addiction takes hold. Alcoholism is a progressive disease, and without treatment it only gets worse.
If an alcoholic is unwilling to seek help, is there any way to get them into treatment?
Sure the courts force alcoholics into treatment all the time. Rehab centers are overflowing with people who don't want to be there. The real question is, will forcing an alcoholic into treatment guarantee recovery? The answer is no.
A perfect example is the alcoholic with multiple DUI arrests. These folks have all been through one or more alcohol treatment programs. Why didn't any of them stick? The answer is the alcoholic refused to admit to themselves they have a problem.
No alcoholic is hopeless. If you're trying to get an alcoholic sober, learn to accept the fact that the alcoholic is sick, from an illness he cannot control, and neither can you. The alcoholic is addicted and an addict cannot stop on their own volition.
The first step in treating the alcoholic is the detoxification stage. The alcoholic must truly want to stop drinking or detoxification becomes a temporary solution. The biggest symptom to overcome for an alcoholic is their denial of having a drinking problem. An alcoholic is "someone who could be helped and is worth helping only if they decide not to drink.
Once an alcoholic is in treatment, they more than likely will be asked to start attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings, usually daily. It is not easy to know when or if an alcoholic is "ready" for (AA). You can't make the decision for them. People bounce in and out of (AA) all the time.
The right alcohol recovery program depends upon the severity and nature of the alcoholic and most importantly their personal level of commitment and motivation. A big part of getting the alcoholic into treatment, is overcoming the hurdle they face of actually going to treatment.
Many of the hurdles are self imposed, yet like fortified brick walls - to the alcoholic they are impassible. The walls are constructed from fear, shame, embarrassment, and denial. The uncertainty of what they must face is enough to trigger enough stress that they simply refuse to go.
It may never be completely understood what causes alcoholism, and (AA) is only one of many recognized treatments for alcoholism. The difference is its track record for success. More than 700,000 Americans receive alcoholism treatment of one kind or another on any given day. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is one of the best treatment options for a recovering alcoholic.
Overcoming denial and enabling is often the first step to successful recovery for the alcoholic. Treatment only works if the alcoholic wants it. Forcing a treatment program on an alcoholic does not work. If an alcoholic is going to get anything positive out of an alcohol treatment program, they must be a willing participant.
The (AA) membership knows the routine as far as the alcoholic is concerned. They are all recovering alcoholics too. They supply the means, knowledge, and opportunity. It's up to the alcoholic to take action. It's part of the reason why (AA) is so effective. Very simply, they understand the alcoholic is a person whose life is controlled by alcohol.
Nagging the alcoholic is not the answer to successful recovery. Or is it an effective method to get an alcoholic to stop drinking. The choice must be made by the alcoholic.
Admitting you're an alcoholic is not a requirement for membership to (AA), it is however, the #1 requirement to your recovery. Don't Drink Today - and get involved. Listen to a speaker. Hear their story. In many cases you'll find it's not all that different from yours.
If you don't like the first meeting you attend, go to a different one. It's not like they're difficult to find. Eventually you will find a meeting you like, with people who care and are will help you through the recovery process.

Health: Hang In There Detox Dieters, Help Is At Hand!!
Your doctor will be able to spot issues such as this and help you to work around them when planning your diet.
The secret to losing weight is to eat and drink the right kind of foods until you are satisfied. Skipping of meals is not the answer for weight loss, it can rather deteriorate your health. A healthy weight loss diet plan should include vegetables, fruits, grains, lentils and beans in your diet.
Diet pill side effects can range from dizziness, nausea, increased urination, to the more sever - chest pain, heart attack, liver and kidney damage, stroke, seizures, and even death. After a few months your body develops a tolerance for the pills effects, so diet pills are meant to be taken for a very short period of time. These pills CAN be safe if they are not abused.
It takes time for the body's efforts to show. Usually, by the time you stop dieting, the stage is set for weight regain, the gaining of weight during or immediately after dieting.
Hang In There Dieters, Help Is At Hand!!
I was thinking about diets and such and it occurred to me that dieting is kind of like sports, but one way in which dieting differs from sports competition is that in dieting there seems to be a lack of gradualization in the preparation.
What I'm getting at is that if you want to run the 100 metres pretty fast, even competitively, you don't just go out to the track and put in a full practice right off the bat. I mean it's just not do-able really, is it? You've got to prepare and train in a systematic way which allows you to get stronger and faster throughout the training, and that can takes months if not, more realistically, years.
Well we all know that, we've all seen the "up close and personal" sports profiles, we all know that it's a long road to the podium, BUT somehow we have all got this belief that the "thirty day diet" will work! And why not, all we have to do is stop eating or at least reduce our intake to about twenty five percent and we're home free. "That sounds like fun! Why didn't I think of that?" But how long will it last?
Now let me clarify, I'm not dumping on the many diets out there that will produce a result, what I am getting at is the fact that you need to combine your diet with thoughtful preparation, you need a plan, you need a horizon greater than obtaining a transitory result in thirty days. It's a bit like the folks strapped to the bike machine in the gym, they put their heart and soul into working those legs in an effort to shed the pounds and then they get off with thighs pumped like an Olympic ice- skate racer. I mean youve got to question any slimming exercise that starts with the phrase "pump", oh yes, that's sure to mean slimming!
Dietary supplement or supplements can be found in many forms. The examples are tablets, soft gels, gel caps, capsules, powders, liquids, etc. A lot of dietary supplements do not require any prescription. You can purchase them in health food stores, grocery stores, drug stores, or through mail or Internet.
The low-carb diet overview will explain how you can best manage your weight. In contrast with the belief that carbohydrates are necessary to build your energy profile, fat may replace carbohydrates in this arena.
Whether it's Atkins, the South Beach or some other low-carb plan, as many as 30 million Americans are following a low-carb diet.
Since I already mention that nothing should be dreadful about dieting, it may be worth it to note that there are different diet types because there are different body types. Aside from the body type that we grow in, there are body shapes we long to have.
So enough, you want some answers, not questions or me casting doubt and undermining your "diet plan". OK, fair enough. You've got to treat your weight loss, diet, fitness or whatever plan as an Olympic sport; you've got to lay out a plan and I can guarantee you, it's not going to happen in thirty days or anything like it. Oh, you may see results but it's the sustainability that is the key feature here and you want something that is not going to be an imposition or restriction that you have to fret over every day, so really you need to get into training for your optimum fitness, optimum health and optimum weight, and that's a real program that will endure. And the good news is, you can eat lots of stuff that's "off limits" as long as you put in the requisite workout balance.
I can't give you my whole program here but I can tell you that if it's to be a plan that will work and continue to work in your weight management, you've got to take it gradually, and get comfortable with each level that you attain before trying for the next. You can't just go on the "deprive" premise and trust that if you cross that thirty-day diet target that the results will hold. You know they won't and then it's on to the next hot diet and more deprivation.
That doesn't sound too much like fun to me and I certainly want to help, so in my next article I'm going to give you some concrete advice on foods that I incorporate (and those that are definitely "out") in my program, and some simple but effective advice on the kind of exercise that will slim you, not "pump" you, and how this whole issue of diet is no thirty-day wonder, but a bit more like that Olympic athlete training systematically and gradually with a plan and a schedule to reach peak fitness for the big day.
Somebody once coined a phrase that I am very fond of and it is, "It's easy to make it difficult, it's difficult to make it easy!" I'm going to try to make it easy. Know more about detox diets today!
Hang in there, help is at hand!!
We are all individuals and as such we need to feed ourselves as individuals, having said this some diet plans will be more beneficial for the general population that others. More on detox diets at http://www.diet- detox.info
Finally, I would like to reiterate that success of these different diet types only depends on the discipline of the person dieting. Exercise to induce fast metabolism is necessary. Oversleeping is also bad discipline for these different diet types.
People diet for lots of reasons, and with lots of aims in mind. No matter what your aims are, the most effective diet to achieve them is a personalized one. A personalized diet which suits you is what you need, whether you want to improve your health, or just lose weight.
Information on older adults and long-term results are scarce. Many diet studies fail to monitor the amount of exercise, and therefore caloric expenditure, while participants are dieting. This helps to explain discrepancies between studies.

2 Habits Of Highly Healthy People
There are many conflicting theories as to what the experts consider to be healthy. There are multiple different approaches to living a healthy lifestyle. However, all healthy people do have one thing in common. They have formed positive habits that result in their optimum health level. Let’s look at some of these habits a little closer.
Habit 1: Probably the most important habit that highly healthy people have developed is regular exercise. There are many different schools of thought on this subject as well. How much is enough? As a basic rule, any amount of exercise is better than none. Therefore, if you aren’t currently exercising, start out lightly. Don’t try to run the Boston Marathon tomorrow after reading this. No one wants to go to the gym for a grueling, four hour workout. Anyone can fit 20 minutes of exercise in, though. If you exercise for 20 minutes, at least 3-5 times per week, you’ll be healthier than most of the population. If you can eventually bump that up to an hour per day you’ll be doing great.
What type of exercise should you engage in? There are countless exercises that you can engage in that will greatly benefit you. Probably the most convenient forms are walking and jogging. You can do these two pretty much anywhere. Even if you don’t have a treadmill, just go outside. Besides aerobic exercise, a weight training routine is ideal. Developing muscle helps boost your metabolism and keeps everything running smoothly.
Habit 2: Another factor to a healthy lifestyle is drinking water. This may seem simple, but it is so important. The benefits of drinking water have been proven time and time again. It keeps everything working properly and it actually makes you feel better. After you start exercising, you’ll probably want to drink even more water. If you feel sluggish and tired all of the time, there’s a good chance that you’re dehydrated. Drinking six, eight-ounce glasses per day is great. These two habits are obvious, but two of the most important.

Why United States Has the Best Health Care System
By : Dennis Alexander
This could be very controversial topic to “Why United States has the Best Health Care System”. It seems that anytime you turn on news channel some one is talking about Health Care in the United States. Then there are politicians that all claim that there is a problem and that they are going to fix it. The question is to fix what? We all heard of people saying that why can’t we have Health Care System in the United States as it is in Canada or United Kingdom. The Health Care system where the government takes care of all of its citizens. Sounds like a great concept, except it has never really worked for the countries that it is in. If you consider all the facts “numbers”, United States absolutely has best health care system, let’s look at some facts.
First of United States is renowned for it’s advancement in medicine and quality of its hospitals. We all heard of the hospitals like Mayo Clinic, Stanford Medical Center and many more with their own breakthroughs in medicine. United States by far has the best success ration when it comes to Heart surgeries and cancer treatment. When there are unusual circumstances where babies are born joined some where over seas they do not bring them to Canada or United Kingdom, they bring them to United States. Another fact is that United States law does not allow hospital to decline you care. Even if you do not have any verifiable way to pay the bills, the hospitals still have to accept you.
Second in United States we have the cheapest health care system and most efficient. I know this one is going to raise some questions. All we hear on the TV is how expensive our medical system is. Well like I said before numbers don’t lie, people do. Lest take a look at Canada for example; Canadians pay over 55 % in taxes and 17.5% sales tax on top of that. That’s over 70% in taxes. In United States the absolute highest tax bracket is 38%. Is anyone in the United States paying over 30% of their income for their health care needs? I don’t thinks so. Not to mention that In Canada you have to wait up to six months to get a certain medical test done. If you need a transplant in Canada you might as well be dead.
Third in United States if you are Self Employed you probably heard of Health Saving Accounts. We do not pay in to some kind of health care system that is managed by our great government that can’t even manage Medicare, that’s another topic that book can be written on. Since 2005 we have the ability to pay even less in tax and keep more of our hard earned money. If you are Self Employed and think that health insurance is expensive in United States and you do not have Health Savings Account set up, than you are an idiot. There is no simpler way that I can put that. There cannot be any excuse or exceptions to why you do not have Health Saving Account set up (well there is one I can think of “brain damage”). To get instant health insurance quotes on Health Saving Accounts visit http://www.HealthCoverageQuotes.com
Fourth it gets much better from here. Not to mention that we have best quality of care, when it comes to our hospitals. I know some might say I hear this and that about how some bad some hospitals treat people. Some might even say that some hospital killed their loved one in the United State. Let me start by saying this, if you have HMO type of plan not to mention any insurance companies, there is one in particular starts with “K”, then your family members deserve to die. I hear this all the time “my family member, friend was killed by this hospital” and if are still using that hospital, then you are and idiot. What I am stating here is type of health plans that lets you be in control of your health care. A Health Plan where you pick and choose your own doctors and hospitals. In the United States we have best quality health care system and it is FREE. That’s right and it is not known to you because you are not supposed to know. Let me explain I have my own business it is set up as a corporation. All my health insurance premiums are 100 % business expense (if it is done properly). If your accountant says other wise, fire your accountant. It is either give my money away in taxes to Uncle Sam, who I absolutely love, or I have to pay for my Health Insurance. There we have best quality of health care system FREE. NO ONE can challenge my on that because if is undisputed fact. I know some of you might be employed by employer and you might not be able to take advantage of all the tax benefits of having a corporation set up properly. It is not that health care is expensive it is that you chose a route that is not favored by out great countries tax system. Uncle Sam pays for my health insurance and United States has the best health care system.
